Addendum's Craftsman:

Blair Fox

Winemaker

Winemaker Blair Fox relies on simple winemaking practices while lavishing in the detail. His goal is to fashion expressive yet balanced wines that represent the very best of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Graduating from UC Davis in 1999 with a combined degree in Viticulture and Enology, Blair gained winemaking experience at Sunstone Winery in the Santa Ynez Valley (1999-2001), as a vineyard consultant for Fess Parker Winery’s 2002 harvest, and at Haselgrove Winery in McLaren Vale, Australia (2003).

Blair traveled extensively through France’s Rhône Valley, developing a passion for the terroir-driven wines of Cote Rotie, L’Hermitage and Condrieu before returning to his hometown of Santa Barbara. He then permanently joined Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard as Associate Winemaker, overseeing the Rhône varietal wines until 2005, when Eli Parker handed Blair the Head Winemaker reins, for both Fess Parker Winery as well as the family’s Epiphany Cellars project.

Since then, Blair has taken the Fess Parker portfolio from strength to strength, achieving numerous 94+ scores from the top wine publications, and earning the Andre Tchelistcheff Winemaker of the Year Award to boot (from the San Francisco International Wine Competition). With his Davis education, numerous accolades and genial personality, Blair has a cadre of esteemed winemaker friends in Napa, many of whom have encouraged his role in the Addendum project and regularly help check in on the vineyards for him when he is in Santa Barbara.

“Having focused on the winery’s estate Burgundy and Rhône varietal vineyards, I’m thrilled to craft the Bordeaux varietal ‘Addendum’ to our portfolio,” said Blair. “The vineyards and clonal selection of the Napa vineyards from which we source are of such high quality, and the Parkers are a great family to work for.”

Blair continues the stylistic direction set by Fess and Eli Parker when capturing the terroir of the vineyards. He aims to continue raising the bar for award-winning Fess Parker wines with the Addendum project.

Aside from Addendum, Blair’s benchmark Cabernets are Penfolds Bin 707, Montrose, Sociando-Malet, Dunn Howell Mountain and older Chateau Montelena.
